The Start of 2024: Open to Submissions
Happy New Year, Asia Cable readers! We've got some exciting news to share. We're starting off 2024 by opening up our platform to guest authors, and we'd love for you to be a part of it. If you've ever found yourself nodding along to our analyses or even disagreeing and wishing to add your own take, now's your chance. This post is your official invitation to join the conversation; in general, here’s what we’re looking for
Posts should be between 750 and 2750 words
We cover a wide range of topics here and would like to continue to do so. We cover the politics, economics, and security of Asia writ large
We believe that you don’t have to have some fancy degree to have worthwhile insights into Asia.
We will also accept well-thought-out and developed outlines and work with you to turn those into a finished product.
We have multiple types of pieces you can write for us:
Asian Affairs
Timely analysis that focuses on current events shaping Asia's political, economic, and security landscape. Articles in this section are expected to be published within 2-3 days of the news event they analyze, the sooner the better. The aim is to provide readers with immediate, in-depth perspectives on topical issues, offering a nuanced understanding of the event's impact on the region and beyond.
Perspectives
The op-ed section of The Asia Cable, where contributors can express their opinions, analyses, and viewpoints on various issues related to Asia. This section is not tied to current events (although it helps), allowing for a more in-depth exploration of topics. It serves as a platform for thought leaders, experts, and individuals to share their insights and perspectives on the politics, economics, and security of the region.
Eastern Empirics
The unique section within The Asia Cable that reviews recently published academic articles on Asia's politics, economics, and security. The goal is to make scholarly work more accessible and relatable to a broader audience. Each review not only summarizes the key findings of the academic articles but also provides additional context and analysis to help readers understand the real-world implications of the research. This section serves as a bridge between academia and the general public, offering evidence-based insights into the complexities of the Asian landscape.
