India races to build power plants in region claimed by China. India plans to invest $1 billion to accelerate the construction of 12 hydropower stations in Arunachal Pradesh, a region also claimed by China. The federal finance ministry has approved up to 7.5 billion rupees ($89.85 million) in financial assistance for each project. The total funding for these projects is expected to be around 90 billion rupees. This initiative aims to expedite regulatory clearances and secure local support.
